Most days

The kitchen in our townhouse isn't very big, but it is still the heart of the home. We spend countless hours around this kitchen table: eating, talking, coloring, creating.

Luke loves to color, and Millie likes to color in between taste-testing the crayons and markers. I try to have them log some sort of table time every day, and it usually happens while I'm doing the dishes or making dinner. I love when they actually sit still —- and I'm using the term "sit" very loosely, because they are both very energetic.

Not every moment at the kitchen table is peaceful. Sippy cups are spilled, food is flung and eat-your-dinner-now threats are uttered almost daily. The table has many scratches and dents, despite the neurotic table use rules I put in place when we bought the table two years ago.

Still, when Luke and Millie create, the table is their happy place. And mine, too.

So sweet :-). I love your kitchen and I've seen a lot of the "table time" first hand. I love this post because these will be the type of things that we will forget about as our kids grow. The simple things.
